A Change in Plans

Mom and I just received urgent new that the Shijihuang hospital has unexpectedly shut down and is not allowing anymore foreign patients.   Luckily we are still able to go to Qingdao!:)  Because I am only getting the IV and RB injections and this happened on such short notice and so close to my arrival date the hospital rooms are completely full so there keeping us in a hotel.    Crazy!  I just want to get over there before something else happens, only a few more days!!:D and I haven't even packed yet, yikes!

Third Times A Charm!

Hey Everyone!  Well after a few months I finally figured out my password to get back on this thing Horay! Anyway if you haven't guessed by the title, I am going back to China for the third time:)  I am beyond excited! We will be leaving on May 27, which is just a little less than a week.  We will just be there for about three weeks and this time we are going to a new place that I could not pronounce to save my life but its called Shijihuang and its about 4 or 6 hours from Beijing.   I will definitely keep the blogging up during the trip and after to let you al know how it goes, I know I kinda dropped the ball on my last trip as far as blogging so heres whats been happening in between:)  My second round of treatments went very well no problems or anything, Mom, Easton, and I even got to go to Beijing on a weekend that I had no treatments which is something I will never forget and was an amazing experience to share with my mom and brother:)  After I got back things got even better, I was expecting that if I was going to get any vision I figured it would be in my right eye, which is the better of the two and the one that had the most improvements my first time, but instead I ended up getting more vision in my left!  it was so neat but also a totally different ball game fore me because I was not use to seeing really anything out of that eye and I just started noticing more and more things from my left eye. It also helped my driving tremendously, I was able to see well enough to drive but I had a very difficult time staying in the lines, and it wasn't because I couldn't see them, I think it was more of a balance issue.    So currently I am at 20/2100 in my left eye, which sounds pretty bad but comparing it to just having light perception, it was doing pretty good.  Colors and shapes are more apparent, still really blurry but it was obviously enough to help me out with my driving so it works for me lol  Unfortunately I still don't have my license yet, I am still legally able to drive with my glasses and everything but I have been struggling quite a bit with depth perception and learning different roads and where places are.   This past year being my first year in college took up most of my time so my driving was put on a back burner, but now that summer time is here, I plan on hitting the driving practice hard, my goal is by the end of the summer.   Anyway enough chatter from me!  If you guys have any questions or want to talk or even Skype while I'm over in china don't hesitate!:) my email is maciem93@yahoo.com

See Ya!:)

This time my brother came with mom and I which has been nice to have him here, for the most part :). I just had my first spinal yesterday and it went great! lot better than what I expected for sure. I also had an IV about 4 days ago which went great aswell. Everything has gone so smooth its almost like its going too good :) I'm sorry I haven't really done any blogging since I've been here, mainly b/c I had completley forgottan how to get on :) but its all good now so I will try to blog as much as I can and put in a few pics here and there! The pic is of me and my brother Easton he was sitting with me while i was waiting to get my first spinal done:) he's a awesome brother.

A Whole New World

Hey Everyone,I'm so sorry I haven't updated in a long time. It's been pretty busy latley with school and riding horses. I still have been having improvments. We also just did a follow up on Channel 4. They wanted to do a head story because Oboma waved the law that restricted stemcell research:) some of the improvments I've had is now I am actually DRIVING:) I got my permit 3 days after my birthday. TALK ABOUT A DREAM COME TRUE! my vision has improved from 20/200 to 20/80 in my right eye and in my left i went from very little light perseption to 20/2100 which is pretty good. When we went to the Dr to see if i could drive I read the very top row of the reading chart about 3 feet away from my face. Mom started crying and I'll admit I got pretty teary eyed to. Driving has been going well we've just been driving arround the neighborhood and stuff but i'm able to see the signs and lines stuff like that. It's a little nerve racking for mom and dad when they let me drive:) Another cool thing is that is happening is mom and I are going to Florida to speak at a medical converence about stem cells and they want mom and i to talk. It should be fun. Well I will try to update more when I see more improvments and such. BYE:)

Improvments

After about 5 months since we got back I don't think I have posted 1 post. Since we have been back I have noticed some life changing differences for me. I have noticed that now I can see the outline of the tree tops on the mountains, a bunny in the pasture while I was riding, seeing snow fall, being able to watch T.V. while sitting on the couch, read a good distance from the book, school work is easier to do, I'm able to see the board from the second row. All of these improvements make me think of how much going to china was worth it. I know that if mom and I had to go again we would. it was totally worth it. I have an eye check up on Monday to see how everything is going. were hoping that I will have enough vision to drive with a special pair of glasses, trying not to get our hopes up to high but were definitely keeping our fingers crossed. I'll update soon

Where home and back to normal!

We got home last wednesday evening FINALY! after 7 weeks in china we were home. It was a very amazing and interesting trip, thats for sure :)
All the treatments went great I've made some amazing and extremly nice freinds along the way plus I got to learn some interesting facts and see some pretty amazing things.
The day we were suppose to be leaving I had some kind of reaction. We stayed nine more days, it was very depressing but we made it. Since we had cancel our tickets my awesome tio jay. Mom and I both cried when he got there we were so relieved to see him! Our flight back was awesome we had first class the whole way there mainly because there were no other seats becuase of the olympics. We had no problems coming home and tio jay was determined to get us to Denver so he flew with us all the way home and then he flew back to Houston.
That next day mom went to work and I went with her to get all my books and figure out my classes. On friday I went to school and mom went to work, we were both pretty tiered but we did it. I had my first week of High school and I love it, and all of my teachers! It's nice to get back to my normal life and to be home. We'll be leaving sometime in September for the Doctors show. They let Easton come with us because mom and I refuse to leave Easton again. Where ever we go he goes with us. I dont think I could take any more being away from him and I think mom would say the same thing. I have greatly improved vision wise aswell. Mom and I were driving home from school and normally I couldn't see the signs until about 10 feet away and I very rarely did I read it now, I can see the signs from over 100 feet away and can reed the signs about 1o feet away most of the time. Mom has me practicing on reading the signs it's amazing!
Well I've got to go but I will update when ever I see more improvments.
See ya! :)
